Victoria Liu

PhD student

Victoria is a PhD student who joined the lab in 2023. Her research lies at the intersection of computational neuroscience, brain-computer interfaces, and multimodal neuroimaging, with a focus on how dynamic brain states shape decision-making, affect, and behavior. She develops machine learning and neural signal processing methods across EEG, fMRI, eye tracking, and behavior to decode cognitive states and model their dynamics across individuals and sessions. Her work spans value-based decision-making, emotion regulation, and neuropsychiatric applications, with the broader goal of predicting and adaptively modulating brain-state trajectories through neurofeedback and closed-loop stimulation. Prior to Columbia, she earned bachelor's degrees in Neuroscience, Computer Science, and Cognitive Science from Johns Hopkins University. Outside the lab, Victoria enjoys following figure skating, drawing, and learning new languages, whether spoken or programmed.
She is currently looking for motivated undergraduate and graduate students interested in EEG-fMRI, TMS, BCI, and multimodal neural signal analysis.
